Reporting to the Campus Coordinator and the Comptroller, this specialized position provides the integral role in the relationship between the student and ABES. The main areas of accountability include:

  • Consistently providing excellent customer service to the area of student accounts to ensure that there is financial closure in each instance of student account interaction at ABES
  • Overseeing the area of collections in student accounts where required; but more importantly, ensuring the smooth flow of financial accountability to avoid a negative collections experience


  • Responsible for all student communications, conflict resolution and compliance on deliverables on all client revenue streams
  • Review of all student files to ensure that orderly payment of all financing is achieved consistently
  • Compilation of bi-monthly report on all areas of student finance to be provided to Campus Coordinator on a consistent basis
  • Ensuring that client issues around finance are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing the Campus Coordinator immediately about financial issues which cannot be resolved
  • Compilation of monthly report on overdue accounts
  • Working closely with the Comptroller, Student Services staff and the Campus Coordinator to maintain a continuous knowledge of project status in order to identify potential issues and/or opportunities to streamline the student accounts area
  • Inputting into database the student accounts information as required on a timely basis
  • Knowledge and ability with a variety of funding frameworks in the province of Alberta, including:
    1. Student Loans – awareness of process and paper-flow from start to end
    2. Alberta Works Funding (SIP)- knowledge of the SIP funding process, from assessment to completion of training. This would include the application process, assessments, change of circumstance, and completion of 30-, 60- and 90-day follow-up process
  • Other financial management tasks associated with student finance as required


  • College diploma in a bookkeeping-, accounting- or finance-related field or its equivalent
  • 1-3 years accounts management experience and the ability to independently manage the tasks associated with student accounts in a very busy office environment
  • Preference given to candidates with knowledge or experience in the health care field
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to intervene in a difficult situation with confidence and the aim to resolve a dispute effectively
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
  • High-level of skills in problem-solving and analysis
  • Strong skills with all areas of Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional professionalism and interpersonal skills
