Are You the Perfect Candidate for this ABES Job?

Reporting to the Campus Coordinator, the Admissions/Recruitment Specialist is responsible for front-line recruitment support for candidates applying for programs at ABES on an ongoing basis. The main areas of accountability include:

  • Analysis of qualifications of prospective students using established ABES admission standards, guidelines and criteria
  • Work within a close-knit team of co-workers responsible for the entire area of admissions, including funding, student account management, practicum placement and coordination of students through the programs


Responsibilities

  • To source candidates for students within programs using a variety of sources to ensure the candidate source is always adequate
  • To coordinate and participate in ads for the media following established guidelines of ABES and providing input into new recruitment activities
  • To work with the Student Support Services team on the design and selection of tools, including behavioural and situational interview questions for front-line roles
  • To pre-screen applicants and interview candidates
  • To provide information to administrative staff on offers and acceptance of potential candidates for the program
  • To conduct background and reference checks as required
  • To follow all organizational procedures and policies, especially those related to admissions and recruitment
  • To provide reliable and efficient communication skills throughout the process of recruitment and admission
  • To compile recruitment data, identify emerging recruitment trends and prepare reports as required
  • To coordinate with a variety of program coordinators regarding needs within programs that the admissions/recruitment staff should be aware of
  • To attend meetings with staff as required
  • To adhere to ethics guidelines as set out in the Policy and Procedures of ABES, particularly those with relation to provincial and federal privacy standards
  • To respond to inquiries of programs in person, on the phone, or via email as required
  • To follow up with all prospective students using communication tools as required


Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in a field related to communication, education, counselling, or its equivalent
  • 1 – 3 years of admissions/recruitment experience and the ability to manage busy and high-volume recruitment/admissions. Preference given to those candidates who have either worked in the health care field or have knowledge of the health care field
  • Ability to work with behavioural interview techniques
  • Ability to manage the end-to-end recruitment process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional professionalism and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy a requirement of the position
  • Ability to understand and act on sense of urgency when immediate action is required
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to multi-task effectively
  • Ability to remain positive and focused
  • Above-average problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong skills with all aspects of Microsoft Office
