Alberta Business & Educational Services (ABES) was incorporated March 28, 1991 and since then, has been providing an education environment that gives adult learners the training and support needed to enter the employment sector.
Since incorporation, ABES has been offering training programs in co-operation with a variety of academic partners including SAIT, BCIT, Douglas College, Langara College, with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Lakeland College.
ABES programs are eligible for provincial and federal student loans and grants as well as for HRDC and/or EI funding. All programs are delivered in Calgary with the exception of those programs designed for distance education or requiring site-specific practicum experience.
Industry is a key player in the development, delivery and assessment of our programs as our primary focus is the employability of our graduates. We keep in constant contact with industry to ensure that our graduates have the skills required for employment and ongoing advancement within their careers. All programs are continually updated to reflect current industry requirements and this attention to detail is demonstrated in the extremely high employment rates of our graduates.
ABES programs have been designed for the adult learner including significant hands-on training and individualized support for each student as needed. Our small class sizes ensure an abundance of one-on-one classroom instruction and instructor support. The programs are taught with a combination of classroom instruction and feature substantial on-site workplace experience providing students not only with skills-based training but also direct contacts within industry.
Our classrooms are fully equipped with all of the necessary learning tools, including access to computer labs and full multi-media presentation abilities. The ABES classrooms are conveniently located in North East Calgary, with easy access to the Calgary LRT system. Use of a vehicle is not required by the students to access their practicum sites.
